There were 3 notices published by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (CDPR) on April 19, 2002 having to do with approvals of AuxiGro; but what those approvals are for is not clear.

It would appear that the CDPR has, previously, approve the use of AuxiGro:

AS A GROWTH REGULATOR - FOR USE TO INCREASE TOTAL YIELD ON ALMONDS

AS A GROWTH REGULATOR - FOR THE PREVENTION OF POWDERY MILDEW ON GRAPES

AS A GROWTH REGULATOR - TO CONTROL DISEASES ON STONE FRUIT

AS A GROWTH REGULATOR - FOR USE TO INCREASE YIELD ON ONIONS, and

AS A GROWTH REGULATOR - TO INCREASE YIELD ON ALMONDS --

Lastly, it would appear that the CDPR is playing games with consumers -- proposing to deny registration for particular uses of AuxiGro on tomatoes and grapes when approvals for other uses (as a fertilizer, for example) of AuxiGro on tomatoes and grapes have been given elsewhere.

The Director of Pesticide Regulation proposes to register the products listed above pursuant to Chapter 2 of Division 7 (beginning with Section 12751 of the Food and Agriculture Code) after  May 21, 2002.    Comments concerning this proposed action may be directed to the Department of Pesticide Regulation's Pesticide Regulation Branch until that date.

As a result of scientific evaluation, it has been determined that no direct or indirect significant adverse environmental impact is anticipated from the registration of the above listed products; therefore, no public report on the individual products will be filed.

(The Truth in Labeling Campaign has challenged the appropriateness of the "scientific evaluation," but the California Department of Pesticide Regulation has refused comment.)

NOTICE OF FINAL DECISIONS TO REGISTER PESTICIDE PRODUCTS

Pursuant to section 6255 (Title 3) of the California Code of Regulations, the Director of the Department of Pesticide Regulation, files this Notice concerning pesticide products with the Secretary of the Resources Agency for posting.  For products conditionally registered, the Director found that the use of the products during the period(s) while the data are being developed is not expected to cause any significant adverse effect on the environment, there is a clear need for the products in California while the data are being developed, and that the benefits of using the products outweigh risks to human health and the environment.  This Notice must remain posted for a period of 30 days for public inspection.  Contacts regarding this notice should be made to the Department of Pesticide Regulation's Pesticide Registration Branch at (916) 445-4400.
